In a surprising yet bold statement, Omuhereza Businge, widely known by locals as Kamu Kamu, has stirred conversations around political allegiance in Kyegegwa Town Council. Despite being a self-declared 100% supporter of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), Kamu Kamu says he is ready to cast his vote based on results rather than just party loyalty.
I do support NRM 100%, but according to Kyegegwa Town Council leadership this time round, even if we happen to have someone from NUP and is able to lobby for our town council, I will have to vote him or her,” Kamu Kamu said in an interview.
Political Shift or Wake-Up Call?
Kamu Kamu’s comments reflect growing sentiments among residents who are increasingly demanding tangible development in areas such as roads, youth employment, health services, and sanitation.

Support is not just about wearing party colors,” he added. “It’s about who is delivering. Who is speaking for us in meetings? Who is fighting for our schools and markets? That’s who I will support.
Some analysts view Kamu Kamu’s statement not as a rejection of the NRM, but rather as a wake-up call to party leaders in the area.
However the last general elections of 2021, NUP Penetrated Kyegegwa District with a record of total votes 12650 for Bobi Wine and NUP’s Woman MP getting 4000 despite being known as an NRM strongholds with a voting record of 99%.
Therefore, It’s a signal to all politicians that people are watching closely. Performance is being weighed more than ever before,

In conclusion, With the 2026 general elections slowly approaching, sentiments like these could influence the direction of local politics. Whether this will lead to actual shifts in voting patterns remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the people of Kyegegwa want service delivery that can be seen and felt.
I support Omuhereza. We are fed up with NRM leaders who are always silent on every platform only accepting whatever the government asks them to do .
This has totally led to poor service delivery and the government forgetting Kyegegwa may be knowing that everything is running smoothly. Areas with opposition Leaders tend to benefit from the government since it aims at winning the people back.
Let’s wake up.
