Kampala, Uganda – Renowned media personality Isaac Daniel Katende, popularly known as Kasuku, has revealed why he turned down a job offer from Next Media, one of Uganda’s top media houses.
Speaking candidly, Kasuku explained that accepting the position would have forced him to abandon his popular YouTube channel, Kasuku Live—a move he was unwilling to make. The channel, which ranks among Uganda’s leading entertainment platforms on YouTube, has grown into a vital source of income and influence for the outspoken media figure.
“Next Media has a policy that restricts employees from operating personal YouTube channels,” Kasuku said. “Leaving Kasuku Live dormant was simply not an option.”

Kasuku made these remarks while commenting on the recent move by fellow media personality Haffy Powers, who transitioned from BBS Terefayina to Next Media. He noted that Powers’ new role might limit her ability to collaborate with online creators, including her previous work with Kwefulukuta—a media personality she has publicly supported.
Kasuku’s decision highlights the growing importance of digital media platforms for content creators and the tough choices they sometimes face between corporate opportunities and independent ventures.
