Seek Ye First Homestead Income —President Museveni

Kassanda, Uganda

President Museveni while in Kasanda district in greater Mubende had the opportunity to meet with leaders from across Greater Mubende. Discussions covered many pressing development needs—better roads, schools, health services, and more. But amidst all this, Museveni shared one key message: Seek ye first homestead income, and all these other things shall be added unto you.

True transformation begins at home. A family that produces enough food to eat and surplus to sell will have the strength to educate its children, pay medical bills, and even invest in better housing. This is the foundation upon which all other development stands.

Museveni commend the Catholic parishes of Kasanda and Busunju, along with churches like the Church of Uganda dioceses in Ankole, for encouraging this mindset. They are not just preaching faith, but also promoting food security and income generation. This is exactly the kind of partnership we need—where faith and development go hand in hand.

Premier Robinah Nabbanja in Kassanda District

He vowed to continue to focus on improving homestead income because by doing that, they prepare the ground for all other forms of progress. Roads, hospitals, and schools will come—and when they do, they will find a people who are ready, resilient, and thriving.

Presidential industrial hub

We must fully utilize the free education provided under UPE and USE programs. Following that, our youth should acquire practical skills in areas such as carpentry, tailoring, and welding. The industrial hubs are essential for preparing them to be part of the money economy. We need more hubs focused on trades like motor mechanics and textile sales, rather than ‘kusaka’. —President Museveni while launching the presidential industrial hub of greater Mubende.
