In a powerful show of community solidarity and leadership, Kyegegwa District leaders, parents, stakeholders and well-wishers convened at Kako Primary School to officially launch a fundraising campaign aimed at constructing a new pupils hostel. The proposed facility, which will cost UGX 200,426,549, is expected to provide much-needed accommodation for learners at school.

Presiding over the event was the Guest of Honour, Hon. Tom Bright Amooti, Member of Parliament for Kyaka Central, who kicked off the launch with a generous UGX 1 million cash donation. His contribution set the tone for a day marked by acts of support and pledges from other leaders and attendees.
Among the notable contributors:
Hon. Kabahenda Flavia Rwabuhoro, Woman MP Kyegegwa District, who was represented by her personal assistant Muhwezi Joel launched the campaign with 10 bags of cement and promised to continue supporting the project.
Hon. Byamukama Kisoke John, Chairperson LCV for Kyegegwa District, pledged UGX 500,000 in cash and pledged to continue with them.

Hon. Magoba Joel, the District Speaker, made a unique contribution of 500 avocado seedlings, ensuring that every parent and teacher left with a plant. He also donated UGX 100,000 in cash and pledged 10 more bags of cement when construction starts.

Hon. Musa Swaibu Rutangi, Mayor Kyegegwa Town Council, gave UGX 200,000 in cash.

Mr. Mwesige Hussein, who was represented by the District Inspector of Schools, donated UGX 200,000 and committed to providing 5 trips of sand.
The event was not only about Launching—it was a strong reminder of the collective spirit that defines the people of Kyegegwa. With parents, teachers, and community members in attendance, the initiative highlighted the shared responsibility of improving education infrastructure for the district’s children.
As the launching continues, the leadership of Kyegegwa calls upon well-wishers, development partners, and the diaspora community to join hands in making this vision a reality.
