President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has called on leaders in the Rwenzori sub-region to focus on one task at a time, warning that multitasking undermines productivity, concentration, and overall development.
Speaking during a leaders’ meeting at Bumadu Primary School in Bundibugyo District—part of his ongoing Presidential performance assessment tour—the President said, “What helped the NRM Government achieve its goals was our focus on one task at a time. When you multitask, you cannot manage effectively.”

He linked monotasking to the NRM’s historical success in peacekeeping, explaining that prioritization and ideological clarity have led to the establishment of a strong, impartial army. Museveni added that Uganda’s forces are trained without discrimination and supported through benefits like education for soldiers’ children, fostering national unity.
Critique of UN Peacekeeping and Local Responsibility
President Museveni expressed skepticism toward foreign interventions in African peacekeeping, stating, “How can the United Nations keep the peace of a nation that isn’t theirs? The hairstyle is determined by the shape of the head.” He urged African nations to take responsibility for their own security and development priorities.
Progress and Challenges in the Rwenzori Sub-region
Highlighting success stories under the Parish Development Model (PDM), the President praised individuals such as Bernard Kacuuro (cocoa and palm oil farmer), Steven Kisembo (goat farmer), Pelucy Biira (poultry business owner), and Richard Nyakana (model farmer). He underscored the value of the 4-acre model farming strategy in transforming household incomes.

However, he also challenged residents and leaders to better utilize available land and address persistent issues like the poor condition of roads and underperformance in the Universal Primary and Secondary Education (UPE/USE) initiatives. He announced that road improvements in Bundibugyo will commence in July 2025.
Support for Religious SACCOs and LC1 Chairpersons
In a gesture to strengthen local development, Museveni pledged Shs20 million to each religious SACCO across various denominations, including Anglican, Catholic, Pentecostal, Muslim, and Owobusobozi groups. He also gifted a motorcycle to the LC1 Chairperson, acknowledging their critical role in community administration.

Political Support for 2026
Leaders at the meeting pledged their unwavering support for President Museveni and urged him to be the sole NRM flag bearer in the 2026 general elections.

The meeting was attended by key government and regional leaders, including Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, Ministers, Members of Parliament, District Councillors, and cultural leaders from Obudhingiya Bwamba and Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu.
