KJohn Alinaitwe —Tooro, Uganda | President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni today kicked off his tour of the Tooro Sub Region Parish Development Model (PDM) Assessment and Awareness Campaign. The tour follows a successful engagement in the Rwenzori Sub-Region.
During his earlier tour in Rwenzori, the President visited model farmers, launched Presidential Zonal Skilling Hubs, and held meetings with local leaders, urging them to drive poverty eradication through full utilization of government programs.

As part of the government’s commitment to transforming rural livelihoods, a total of UGX 101.7 billion has been disbursed to Tooro Sub-Region under the PDM over the last two financial years (2022/23–2023/24). These funds have directly benefited over 80,000 households, empowering them to participate in productive economic activities aimed at lifting communities out of poverty.
Today, President Museveni is scheduled to visit model farmers in Kamwenge, Bunyangabu, and later conclude the day in Kabarole District. He is accompanied by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa, NRM Vice Chairman for Western Uganda Chris Baryomunsi, ministers, and local leaders.
In addition, he will launch the Kyenjojo Presidential Skilling Hub, conduct a leadership meeting in Kyegegwa, and conclude the regional tour with a public rally in Kamwenge District.

Emyooga: Grassroots Savings and Livelihoods Improvement
Beyond the PDM, the government is also scaling up support through Emyooga, a presidential initiative to boost household incomes through SACCOs organized around skilled trades and enterprises.
Tooro Sub-Region hosts 234 Emyooga SACCOs with 246,647 individual members, and has received UGX 10.85 billion in seed capital. Notably, Kyenjojo and Kyegegwa districts each received over UGX 2.5 billion, reflecting their high levels of organization and participation.
