Kitagwenda District witnessed scenes of celebration and political excitement on Tuesday as residents gathered in large numbers to welcome back former District Chairperson, Robert Mugabe. His return followed the successful filing of his nomination to contest in the upcoming National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries for the Kitagwenda County Member of Parliament seat.

Popularly known as Omutembuzi, a title symbolizing his pioneering role in the district’s formation, Mugabe was received with fanfare in Kabujogera Town. A vibrant convoy, including boda boda riders dressed in yellow reflector jackets bearing his name, paraded through the town as supporters turned out in full force to show their backing.

The grand reception signaled Mugabe’s enduring popularity at the grassroots level, particularly as he makes a political comeback to compete for a parliamentary seat.
