Hon. Vincent Freedom Kaheeru: From Boardrooms to Parliament, Kyaka North’s New Voice

KYEGEGWA DISTRICT – Hon Vincent Freedom Kaheeru, the NRM flag bearer Kyaka North MP-elect, is bringing a wealth of corporate governance, banking, and agricultural expertise to Uganda’s 12th Parliament.

A seasoned banker, agriculturalist, and corporate governance practitioner, Kaheeru has spent decades shaping leadership and development across East Africa. He currently chairs VFK & Associates Consulting Ltd and serves as the National Director of Profiles International Uganda, a global management consultancy that also entrusted him with directorship roles in Kenya and Rwanda.

A Governance Expert With Regional Influence

Kaheeru is widely recognized as one of East Africa’s most experienced corporate governance experts, having served on some of Uganda’s most influential boards. His portfolio includes:

  • Uganda Development Bank
  • Post Bank Uganda
  • New Vision
  • Uganda Post Ltd
  • Agribusiness Initiative Trust (aBi Trust)
  • ECLOF Uganda (former Chairman)
  • ECLOF Kenya (ongoing board member)

He has also held advisory roles on the Parliamentary Commission Audit Committee, the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU), and the Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association.

Champion of Agriculture & Inclusive Finance

Starting out as a credit analyst at the Uganda Commercial Bank (now Stanbic Bank), Kaheeru quickly became an authority in agricultural finance. His research and practical work led to the development of innovative loan products designed to strengthen farming value chains—from land acquisition to production, processing, and marketing.

His expertise has taken him to Harvard Business School, South Africa, Geneva, and Nairobi, where he has participated in global programs on inclusive finance, climate resilience, and board leadership.

From Corporate Leadership to Public Service

Kaheeru’s career at the Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda (ICGU) cemented his reputation as a trainer and strategist for boardrooms across the region. He has worked with multilateral agencies including the World Bank, African Development Bank, Commonwealth, and Ford Foundation, promoting governance excellence.

In the private sector, he steered policy and accountability at the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU), where he chaired the Contracts Committee for six years.

The Road Ahead

As Kyaka North’s incoming legislator, Kaheeru says he intends to use his experience in governance, agriculture, and human capital development to shape policies that improve livelihoods in Kyegegwa District and across Uganda.

“I believe leadership must serve both people and institutions. My role in Parliament will be to ensure inclusive growth—where farmers, entrepreneurs, and communities all thrive,” he said.

With his blend of corporate experience and grassroots understanding, Kyaka North’s new MP-elect is set to become a key voice in linking Uganda’s private sector, governance reforms, and rural development initiatives.
