Ugandan music star and Mpaka Records CEO Wyclif Tugume, popularly known as Ykee Benda, together with his beloved fiancée Emily Nyawira, officially sealed another milestone in their love journey with a glamorous traditional wedding ceremony (Kwanjula) held in Najeera on Saturday.
The ceremony, which marked the union of two families, radiated culture, elegance, and joy. Emily’s family warmly welcomed Ykee Benda’s entourage, with rituals and blessings that symbolize commitment and unity in traditional marriage.
True to his reputation as a detail-oriented artist, Ykee Benda ensured that nothing was left to chance. From the floral décor to the color themes, every element of the event reflected class and sophistication. Emily, in her stunning traditional attire, complemented Ykee’s elegant look, leaving guests marveling at their flawless presentation.
The couple’s introduction was graced by a galaxy of Uganda’s entertainment heavyweights and public figures. Among the notable faces were Sheebah Karungi, Lydia Jazmine, Tracy Melon, Mesach Semakula, Levixone, and the B2C Entertainment trio, who all took turns to serenade the couple with live performances.
Adding more glamour to the event were Eddy Kenzo and his wife, State Minister for Energy, Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro, alongside other distinguished personalities from the arts, politics, and business sectors.
Beyond the glitz, the day was a touching reminder of the power of love and culture. Both families expressed their joy as they formally blessed the couple’s union, setting the stage for the grand wedding that fans and well-wishers are eagerly awaiting.
