Fort Portal – The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Annet Anita Among has called for the immediate rehabilitation of the Mityana–Mubende–Kyegegwa–Kyenjojo road, describing its state as “deeply concerning and urgently in need of repair.”
Speaker Among made the remarks yesterday while representing His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at the 30th Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV in Fort Portal.
She revealed that although the President had offered her a helicopter to ease her travel, she deliberately chose to drive by road in order to personally witness the condition of the route.
It is clear that the road urgently needs rehabilitation, Speaker Among stated.

She went on to instruct the Minister of Finance, who was in attendance, to secure the required funds within two weeks to allow roadwork to begin without further delay.
The Mityana–Mubende–Kyegegwa–Kyenjojo road serves as a vital transport corridor linking central and western Uganda. Its rehabilitation is expected to ease transportation, promote trade, and improve access to schools, hospitals, and markets for communities along the route.
Speaker Among reaffirmed government’s commitment to prioritizing infrastructure development as a key driver of social and economic transformation.
When His Excellency appointed me to represent him, he offered me his helicopter to facilitate my travel here. However, after learning about the poor condition of the Mityana–Mubende–Kyegegwa–Kyenjojo road, I decided to travel by road to see the situation for myself. It is clear… pic.twitter.com/w7kGKoVeC0
