Speaker Among Urges King Oyo to Marry, Pledges Support with Bride Price

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anitah Annet Among, has called upon His Majesty King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV of Tooro Kingdom to take a significant step in his personal life marriage.

Speaking during the celebrations to mark the 30th Coronation Anniversary of King Oyo in Fort Portal Tourism City, Speaker Among congratulated the young monarch on his three decades of leadership and praised his efforts in promoting culture, unity, and development in Tooro and Uganda at large.

In her remarks, the Speaker encouraged the 33-year-old King to embrace marriage, describing it as a foundation for family, stability, and continuity of the monarchy. She lightheartedly added that she is willing to contribute towards his bride price once the King makes his choice.

Your Majesty, the people of Tooro love you, and so does the whole country. But the time has come for you to get married and start a family. I want to assure you that I will personally support you with bride price when you choose your Queen, Among said, drawing applause from the audience.

Her message sparked excitement among cultural leaders, subjects, and invited guests, many of whom echoed the Speaker’s call as a gesture of love for their King.

King Oyo, who ascended to the throne at just three years old following the passing of his father, King Patrick David Matthew Kaboyo Olimi III, has grown into one of the world’s youngest reigning monarchs. Over the years, he has focused on initiatives in education, cultural preservation, and youth empowerment.

The coronation anniversary celebrations attracted government officials, cultural leaders, and thousands of subjects who gathered to honor King Oyo’s reign and reflect on the progress of Tooro Kingdom.

Speaker Among’s lighthearted but significant call is already generating public debate, with many Ugandans sharing their opinions on social media about who could be the future Queen of Tooro.
