Kampala — The Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, has called on Ugandans to embrace peace, justice, and unity as the country approaches the next electoral period, emphasizing that harmony is essential for national development.
Speaking during the Bulange Christmas, Carols held at the Buganda Kingdom headquarters in Mengo, Archbishop Ssemogerere reminded leaders and citizens alike of their moral responsibility to uphold truth, fairness, and respect for human dignity.
The Archbishop stressed that elections should never be a source of division or violence but rather an opportunity for citizens to freely express their will in a peaceful environment.

Justice, truth, and peace must guide our actions, especially during elections. Without justice, peace can not prevail, and without peace, development becomes impossible, he said.

He urged political leaders to lead by example, avoid inflammatory rhetoric, and respect democratic processes, while encouraging security agencies to act professionally and impartially in maintaining law and order.
Addressing the faithful, Archbishop Ssemogerere called on Christians to remain prayerful and to actively promote reconciliation within their communities, noting that the Christmas season is a time for forgiveness, love, and renewal.
The event was attended by Buganda Kingdom officials, religious leaders, politicians, and hundreds of believers, who gathered for prayer, worship, and reflection ahead of Christmas celebrations.
Archbishop Ssemogerere concluded by appealing to all Ugandans to reject hatred and violence and instead work together to build a nation founded on justice, unity, and respect for life.
