The Woman Member of Parliament for Kyegegwa District, Hon. Flavia Kabahenda Rwabuhoro, yesterday appeared live on Radio 5 FM in Rushere, where she gave a detailed account of her leadership, achievements, and continued commitment to the people of Kyegegwa District.
The interactive radio program provided residents with a direct platform to engage their leader and hear firsthand updates on progress made in women empowerment, youth skilling, health, education, and community development.
During the program, Hon. Flavia emphasized her people-centered approach to leadership, noting that empowering women and youth remains a key pillar for sustainable development in Kyegegwa. She highlighted interventions that have strengthened women’s groups through leadership training, startup tools, agricultural inputs, and access to government programs such as UWEP, YLP, GROW, support for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and the Parish Development Model (PDM). These initiatives, she explained, are aimed at improving household incomes and building resilient communities.
The MP also outlined her continued support for the youth through vocational training, bursaries, sports development, and entrepreneurship programs, which have enabled many young people to acquire skills, create jobs, and become productive citizens.
In the health sector, Hon. Flavia detailed her advocacy for maternal and child health, support to health facilities, assistance to vulnerable families, and promotion of social protection programs targeting PWDs and the elderly, including SAGE and other welfare initiatives.
On education, she reaffirmed her strong commitment to the girl child and vulnerable learners, citing her support to schools through donations of scholastic materials, infrastructure support, and promotion of civic education to empower citizens with knowledge of their rights and responsibilities.
Hon. Flavia further highlighted her continuous engagement with communities on infrastructure development, environmental conservation, and improved access to essential services such as roads, clean water, and electricity.
At the national level, the MP noted that she has remained a strong and consistent voice for Kyegegwa District in Parliament, advocating for equity, accountability, and increased funding for social development programs, while working closely with government institutions and local leaders to ensure service delivery reaches the grassroots.
My duty is to account to my people and to work every day to ensure that development reaches every household in Kyegegwa, Hon. Flavia Kabahenda Rwabuhoro said.
