Hon. Kabahenda Flavia Rwabuhoro, Woman MP for Kyegegwa District, delivered remarks during the official close of the Right2Grow project held at Imperial Royale Hotel. The event marked the conclusion of a five-year journey aimed at improving nutrition and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) among communities in Uganda.
The Right2Grow initiative has made notable strides in promoting child nutrition, reducing stunting, and improving household hygiene practices. Through collaboration with stakeholders and local leaders, the project empowered communities with actionable knowledge on healthy feeding, access to clean water, and improved sanitation standards.
In her speech, Hon. Kabahenda applauded partners for placing nutrition and WASH at the forefront of public health. She emphasized the importance of sustainability, calling on government agencies and local leaders to continue prioritizing community health interventions.
When we invest in proper nutrition and sanitation, we invest in the dignity and future of our people, Hon. Kabahenda noted.

The Food and Nutrition Security unit of the Uganda Parliamentary Alliance (UPA-FNS) has worked closely with the Right2Grow consortium, pushing for legal frameworks that promote healthy living. Their efforts have contributed to policy advocacy geared toward quality healthcare delivery, especially for vulnerable groups such as children and expectant mothers.
As the five-year cycle ends, partners expressed optimism that the systems strengthened and policies advocated for will continue benefiting communities. The project leaves behind a foundation of empowered households, better-equipped health systems, and stronger legislative support around nutrition and sanitation.
