Yesterday in Kyegegwa District, H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni reassured residents of continued government investment in infrastructure and economic growth. Addressing thousands of supporters during his second rally of the day, the NRM Presidential Candidate confirmed that work on the Kazo–Mpara–Kyegegwa–Hapuyo road will commence soon, with a contractor already engaged. The road serves as a major route supporting trade, transport, and the movement of goods between Fort Portal, Mubende, and further to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
He noted that the broader development plan covers upgrades on the Mubende– Kyegegwa-Fort Portal–Congo route, including sections passing through Kazo, Kyegegwa, Hapuyo, and Karuguuza According to Museveni, a contractor from China has already been identified for this project.
To improve social services, President Museveni announced that the government will upgrade Health Center IIIs to Health Center IV status in Kyatega, Hapuyo–Kakabara, and Mpara. Additionally, health facilities in Kigambo, Migongwe, Migamba, and Bugogo will be elevated to the Health Center III level, improving access to medical services and emergency care for rural communities.
He also pledged to expand access to clean water through new piped water systems, targeting both growing trading centers and densely populated villages.
As part of long-term economic positioning, President Museveni confirmed that the government has secured 10 square miles of land in Kyaka II for the establishment of a major industrial park and an extensive Hass avocado farm. The investment is expected to boost value addition, create employment opportunities, and support commercial agriculture.
Highlighting Uganda’s development model, Museveni reminded citizens that meaningful prosperity starts with personal enterprise.
Jobs do not come from the government; they come from commercial agriculture, factories, ICT, and services, he said.

He noted that Uganda continues to commission new factories, support small enterprises under Emyooga, and finalize plans for a dedicated support fund for unemployed graduates to start productive ventures.
With the new road infrastructure, improved health facilities, expanded water supply, and the industrial park underway, residents of Kyegegwa expressed optimism that the district is positioning itself as one of Uganda’s rising economic centers.
