NRM Presidential Candidate, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has called on residents of Kabarole District and Fort Portal City to safeguard peace and actively participate in national development by embracing wealth creation initiatives. Addressing residents and leaders, he noted that Uganda’s progress over the years is rooted in unity, security, and disciplined leadership.
President Museveni reminded citizens that peace remains the foundation of all achievements witnessed so far. He emphasized that the NRM chose stability over division, which has enabled the building of a strong army and the expansion of critical infrastructure, including the Mityana–Mubende–Fort Portal road, which he said will now undergo repairs where necessary.
He further stressed that development provided by the government is public and visible roads, schools, hospitals, and electricity, but wealth depends on individuals making use of available opportunities. Uganda, he said, has provided multiple pathways for households to improve their income.
Development is public, but wealth is personal. We have given you the tools; commercial agriculture, skills, factories, PDM, and Emyooga use them to lift your households, President Museveni advised.
With Fort Portal City expressing interest in establishing an industrial park, the President encouraged local leaders to finalize land allocation so that factories can be constructed to add value to regional produce and create jobs for young people.
Residents welcomed the guidance, saying the industrial park will unlock opportunities in agro-processing, packaging, manufacturing, and tourism support services. Leaders in Kabarole also pledged to mobilize communities to fully utilize available government programs.
With a renewed focus on peace, household income, and industrial growth, Fort Portal and Kabarole now look forward to the next phase of transformation driven by stable leadership and community involvement.
