The National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate today held his second campaign rally in Mityana, where he reaffirmed the party’s long-standing commitment to infrastructure development and improved service delivery in the area.
Addressing residents, he reminded them that NRM’s engagement in Mityana dates back several decades, beginning with strategic investments in road construction aimed at linking agricultural production to markets and essential services.
He recalled an early partnership with investors from the former Yugoslavia, where a barter arrangement using agricultural produce was employed to construct the Mityana–Mubende road, a project that laid the foundation for economic growth in the region. As the national economy improved, the road network was further expanded through Fort Portal and extended to the Democratic Republic of Congo border, strengthening regional trade and connectivity.
Our focus has always been on opening up roads so that our people can move their goods, access services, and improve their livelihoods, he said.
The candidate also announced plans to work on the Kakono–Manyi–Mubende–Sekanyonyi–Busunjju road, describing it as a key route for boosting transport efficiency and supporting local commerce.
In addition to infrastructure, he emphasized continued government efforts to expand access to clean and safe water. He welcomed the progress made so far, noting that safe water coverage in the area has reached 86 percent, a milestone he described as encouraging but one that still calls for further improvement.
The rally attracted a large turnout, with residents expressing appreciation for the historical perspective on development and optimism about future investments aimed at improving livelihoods across Mityana.
