The Senior Presidential Advisor on Mobilisation for the Rwenzori and Tooro sub-regions, Kawamara Mishac, has called upon youth in Kyegegwa District to support the current government, uphold discipline, and focus on job creation as a foundation for sustainable national development.

Kawamara made the call yesterday during a youth convention held at Humura Primary School, where he presided as the guest of honor. The convention was organised by Hon. Birungi Norman, the LCV flag bearer for Kyegegwa District, and attracted a large turnout of young people, particularly Old Girls and Old Boys (OGS/OBS) from different constituencies across the district.
Addressing the gathering, the Senior Presidential Advisor urged the youth to rally behind H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, emphasizing the importance of disciplined, focused, and patriotic youth participation in safeguarding stability and driving socio-economic transformation. He commended the youth for their impressive turnout and encouraged them to apply the knowledge and skills acquired from various learning institutions to improve their livelihoods and communities.
A disciplined and focused youth is the backbone of sustainable development and national stability, Kawamara Mishac said.

Hon. Birungi Norman applauded the youth for their active participation and encouraged them to translate education into practical action, innovation, and self-reliance.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Abdul Rugumayo cautioned young people against engaging in divisive and destructive politics, urging them to remain disciplined and avoid manipulation by individuals pursuing personal political interests.
The Member of Parliament for Kyaka Central Constituency, Hon. Tom Bright Amooti called upon the youth to shift from being job seekers to job creators, highlighting entrepreneurship, innovation, and skills development as key drivers of competitiveness in the globalised economy. He also appealed to the District Service Commission to prioritise qualified residents of Kyegegwa District during recruitment to help address youth unemployment.
The youth convention brought together political leaders, education officials, and young people from across Kyegegwa District to discuss governance, discipline, and opportunities for youth empowerment, reaffirming the critical role of young people in shaping the district’s development agenda.
