Today, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni had an opportunity to meet with a vibrant group of journalists from the Greater Mubende region at the State Lodge, in an engaging and forward-looking dialogue on their role in shaping the future of the nation and the East African region at large.
During the interaction, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni encouraged the journalists to take a proactive role in promoting East African integration. As communicators, storytellers, and thought leaders, they possess the unique ability to influence public perception, foster unity, and cultivate a deeper understanding of regional cooperation. He urged them to use their platforms not only to report the news but to lead initiatives that inspire collective growth, solidarity, and socio-political cohesion across East Africa.
He also emphasized the importance of supporting ongoing government programs aimed at transforming the lives of Ugandans. Journalists play a vital role in disseminating accurate, timely, and constructive information that helps the public make informed decisions and actively participate in national development.

In His message, He stressed the importance of patriotism and called on the media fraternity to uphold and promote the values of the National Resistance Movement (NRM)—patriotism, Pan-Africanism, socio-economic transformation, and democracy. These pillars form the foundation of our country’s progress, and the media must be a strategic partner in actualizing them.
Journalism is not merely about reporting events. It is about building a nation—shaping its identity, nurturing its unity, and steering its progress. The stories told by our journalists today will define how future generations understand our journey and our shared aspirations.
Lastly, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni thanked the journalists of Greater Mubende for their dedication.
