Today 18th April, the faithful of Wekomiire Catholic Church joined by believers from Humura Church of Uganda to commemorate Good Friday—the sacred day when Christians around the world reflect on the suffering, crucifixion, and ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

In a touching demonstration of Christian unity, choirs from both churches led the congregation in worship. Hymns such as “Were You There When They Crucified My Lord?” echoed through the church, drawing both tears and contemplation from many in attendance.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son,
That whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.– John 3:16

The joint service began with a somber procession, symbolizing Christ’s journey to Calvary. Believers from both congregations unite in prayer, scripture, and song, embodying the spirit of fellowship and shared faith.
He was pierced for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
The punishment that brought us peace was on Him,
And by His wounds we are healed.– Isaiah 53:5.
In other areas of Kyegegwa district, Hon Vincent Freedom Kaheeru the aspiring member of parliament for Kyaka north also joined the way of the cross.

The heart of the message focused on the power of the cross, emphasizing Christ’s deep love for humanity and the redemption offered through His sacrifice. Church leaders from both denominations delivered reflections on Jesus’ final moments and the everlasting hope found in the resurrection.
When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, ‘It is finished.’
Then He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.– John 19:30

The service concluded with a solemn moment of silence and the veneration of the cross, reminding all present that though Good Friday is a day of sorrow, it also points to the hope and joy of Easter Sunday.
Rev. Fathers Mark Daniel of Wekomiire Catholic Church expressed deep joy and gratitude for the shared fellowship. Both leaders affirmed that this event was a reflection of Jesus’ heartfelt prayer:
That all of them may be one, Father, just as You are in Me and I am in You.– John 17:21

This joint celebration stood as a testament to the power of unity in Christ—transcending denominations and drawing believers together in love, reverence, and shared hope.
