NUP Condemns Abduction of Kaija Doreen, School of Leadership Coordinator

By Alex Don

The National Unity Platform (NUP) has raised alarm over the reported abduction of Kaija Doreen, the coordinator of the party’s School of Leadership.

According to NUP, heavily armed men using two drones stormed Doreen’s residence and whisked her away to an unknown location. Family members and neighbors are said to have been left in shock as the incident unfolded.

In a strongly worded statement, NUP leaders described the act as another violation of human rights under President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s regime.

Dictator Museveni must know that these criminal actions will never break our resolve. A time must, and will surely come, when all of us will say ENOUGH to this nonsense,” the statement read in part.

The party further called upon security agencies to account for Doreen’s whereabouts and ensure her immediate release, warning that continued intimidation of political activists only strengthens the public’s resolve to resist oppression.

This latest development adds to a series of abductions and arrests of opposition figures and supporters in Uganda, incidents which human rights organizations have repeatedly condemned. NUP insists that such acts of intimidation are intended to instill fear among Ugandans, but stresses that the struggle for freedom and democracy will continue.

NUP supporters and sympathizers have since taken to social media under the hashtag #FreeUganda, demanding Kaija Doreen’s safe return and urging the international community to take note of the worsening political climate in Uganda.
